In the northwest corner of the Oakland Hills nudging up against the Berkeley border is the neighborhood of Rockridge.  Rockridge is Oakland's version of a gourmet shopper's fantasy of grocery shopping at small independently owner stores and many excellent restaurants all along College Avenue.  Housing here is abundant, but never stays on the market long.  With easy access to BART for commuting to San Francisco and a short stroll to the campus of The University of California at Berkeley, Rockridge is one lucky community.
The housing market is divided into lower Rockridge where all of the above mentioned shopping is located; and upper Rockridge, which is in the Oakland Hills next to Montclair and consists of housing only.  Lower Rockridge has some of the best examples of Craftsman style homes in the Bay Area.  Tree lined streets and sidewalks abound leading you to shopping on College Avenue.  Upper Rockridge has, in large part, been rebuilt after the fires in 1991.  You will find many new homes with top of the line amenities and views of downtown Oakland and San Francisco.
