Only two square miles total, Emeryville packs a whole lot into its small area.
20 years ago it became highly recognized throughout the movie world as the home of Pixar, who’s academy award winning movies include Up, Finding Nemo and Toy Story. The next wave of industry to move in was biotech—Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals being one of the first to set up shop in what now houses 50+ biotech firms.
What followed was housing for thousands of employees and their families. Modern lofts and condos started sprouting up where vacant lots and long closed businesses once lived, along with some of the best diners, small restaurants and cocktail bars in the East Bay. There is no shortage of convenience in the area.
Emeryville houses one of the Bay Area’s only IKEA as well as Bay Street’s bustling shopping area equipped with multi-screen movie theatre. The free Emery-Go-Round connects residents from the Macarthur BART station to various locations throughout the city and into Berkeley.
Not just an urban retreat, this city is right on the San Francisco Bay with trails for jogging, biking and walking the dog. Enjoy urban, modern living among a plethora of conveniences!
